GET OVER IT!

Do not anticipate trouble or worry about what may never happen.  Keep in the sunlight.  - Benjamin Franklin

GET OVER IT! "Today's Wisdom 8/2/13
One of then things that I am working on these days is a concept called "Wait To Worry".  Geez we spend way to much of our valuable time worrying about things that never happen.  Ask yourself this morning, "What am I worrying about today? What's the worst thing than will happen if I just quit worrying about it? What if I just use that potentially wasted time in
focusing on a positive outcome... and just deal with "come what may"?

I'll tell you my answer. Not only will 80% of what you and I worry about not happen, but by using our time to focus on the most positive outcome possible, picturing in our minds and
believing... truly believing... in that outcome, that positive picture in our mind and putting ourselves in a mental place, feeling great and positive emotions about it not having happened,
will greatly enhance a positive outcome, and it definitely will free up your mind and time to do more positive and productive things.

In short, "Get Over It" and you will probably have nothing to get over. For the Kagillieth time!...

"We, as human beings, behave and act not in accordance with the truth as the truth might really be, but we behave and act in accordance with the truth as we think it to be or believe it to be."

Got it? OK, now... Get Over It!
Here's my obvious supporting music for "Today's Wisdom", that I have begun to include for each of my blogs... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H-Y7MAASkg  Thanks for reading and "Keep Positivity moving by paying it forward and forwarding this to a friend or maybe someone you know who worries too much.  Actually, I just sent it to myself!

Need a little more support and motivation on this? Then keep reading. Here's some support from my favorite educational institution, The Pacific Institute...

Do you know what it means to "ruminate?" Cows do it all the time. You see, when cows ruminate, they are chewing their cud over and over, in a repetitive process that is necessary to a cow's well-being. However, if you are a human being, rumination on the negative can hurt instead of help you.

You see, when you ruminate, you are preoccupied with rehashing perceived or real problems over and over again. You don't really resolve anything, but you become an expert at working
yourself into a state of high stress that can sometimes lead to a downward spiral. After a while, you find yourself worrying not about the original problem, but about the images you have
created yourself.

Despite this vicious cycle, the human mind has a built-in potential for flexibility. Something inside whispers, "There must be a better way." If you pay attention and look for insight, there is a good chance you will find what you need. Remember, human beings think in pictures. We are drawn to what we are thinking about. So, if we continue to ruminate and worry over the negative, we will be drawn to the negative. The opposite is also true: ruminate on the positive, on the solutions - even if you don't know what they are yet - and you will be drawn to discovering the solution.

The ability to take charge of your thoughts is not something most of us learn in school. However, it is an essential skill if you want to kick the worry habit and accomplish worthwhile goals. You can learn to substitute images of solutions instead of endlessly ruminating about
problems, and you can affirm your ability to deal effectively and calmly with all challenges
instead of worrying about failure.
Does changing your thinking really affect the outcomes and results you get? Absolutely! It
has been proven time and time again. Try it for yourself and see.

Are You A Bit Touchy Today?

At 211º water is hot. At 212º, it boils. And with boiling water, comes steam. And steam can power a locomotive. It's that ONE Extra Degree that makes all the difference.

If you've spent much time around me, you may have noticed that I am "touchy".  I wear 2 arm bands every day of my life and I touch them very often.

One simply says 212º and it reminds me to give that extra degree everyday.  To just push myself to do just a little more.  That one degree of extra effort can sometimes be the difference in winning or losing, success or failure, or getting the job done or falling just a bit short.

The second band I wear daily is one of the many that my daughter weaves for me.  They are positive touch points for me.  When I am feeling a little down, or find myself focusing on the negative... one touch of this arm band will pop me right out of it.  It is my motivation and reminder to stay positive... and it's there with me everyday, always.  It reminds me that we move towards and actually become what we think, dream and focus on.  My daughter, being a beautiful "slave to fashion" herself and always wanting her Dad to look good, makes sure that I have one that will color coordinate with almost anything I wear.  I think I'm up to around 20-25 of these now, that she has hand made for me and you rarely catch me without one on my left wrist.

I have recently added a third wrist band that simply says "COUNTRY - WoundedWarriorProject.org"  I have been working with the WWP and also with a good friend who is a great American and Wounded Warrior, Josh Ray.  Joshua (his given name) is the inspiration for a song I wrote the lyrics to recently, "Joshua's Dream - A Tribute to Wounded Warriors".  My good friend and partner in a project to write songs for Warriors, Jim Hendricks, worked on the arrangement and wrote the music for the song.  We'll work on playing it for you soon.  Click here to read it... https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/64875427/%22Joshua's%20Dream%20-%20A%20Tribute%20To%20Wounded%20Warriors%22.pdf

We haven't recorded "Joshua's Dream" yet, but I did promise to have some song or video to support each of my "Today's Wisdoms", so here you go, and

"Hey!  Think about being a little bit more "touchy".

It helps you remember what's important in life!  Til next time...
